We form a lyric couplet you and I
Our love inscribed within a living song,
Abreast in meter and alike in rhyme,
Two spirits joined in life, as in a poem.
Each line so writ in complement to prove
And each to follow each in blessed form,
Where every word’s a metaphor for love
And similes sublime do there adorn;
Yet when our volta comes, how will we fair?
My hope is that we brave it with aplomb
So that sweet hopes and dreams we ever share
Long after hallowed crypts, our dust entomb.
May forward eyes who read in lover’s praise
Recite these lines and so our souls upraise.
