Sonnet 373

You are my refuge from embattled days,
My steadfast strength in every trying hour,
You are the light when sorrow veils glad ways,
Your gentle touch uplifts my soul with power.
I look upon your face and feel at peace
Still marveling at the wisdom in your eyes,
Your voice, so soft, makes all my troubles cease;
Your smile, the well from which all hope does rise.
I thank the gods for bringing you to me
That on this path I shall not walk alone;
And should I fall in peril’s company—
Your angel touch would soothe my every wound;
I think of all my struggles and life’s strain…
And smile each time I look on you again.
